Ready to Teach, Ready to Learn
Mrs Humble, Mr Dullard, Miss Penberthy and Miss Armstrong
We will encourage and support your children's learning. We are proud of your children's enthusiastic, hard working and caring attitude.
Miss Penberthy and Miss Armstrong, are the teaching assistants in Year 1, who support and encourage the children to be the best that they can be all of the time.
The amazing children in Year 1 continue to impress the adults daily with their fantastic work and how they think carefully about making the right 'Choices'.
Children in Year 1 throughout the country will all be taking part in a phonics screening check during the same week in June. Children in Year 2 will also take the check if they did not achieve the required result when in Year 1 or have not taken the test before.
In October Year 1 visited the Hartlepool Museum as part of their topic work. We explored the museum and found different toys from the past.
Then we made our own toys with paper and straws - a thaumatrope.
We are in the process of writing recounts about our trip to the museum.
Come back soon to read some of our texts!
In February 2017 Year 1 went to Inspire2Learn in Middlesbrough. We used our imagination and creativity to build a setting for our made up stories with Lego and then used an animation app to make our own videos. We really enjoyed this day and our videos are amazing!
We will soon be posting a link to a file with our animation videos.
In March we visited Ward Jackson Park to carry out some field work as part of our topic. We used maps to find significant locations in the park and recorded them on our maps. We were also able to identify on the compass rose if these locations were in the North, South, East or West of the park. Back at school we wrote individual recounts of our trip.
