Tuesday 17th March 2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

As established in the letter you received yesterday, we are sure you are all aware of the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the increase in the number of confirmed cases in the UK.

Again, we would like to reassure you that we take the health and safety of our pupils and staff very seriously and – whilst there is currently no advice from government to close the school – we will keep you updated with any developments, including whether this will need to happen.

Please note, this letter is not confirming the school will close – we simply want to reassure you that if this were to happen, we are fully prepared to take action.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH MY CHILD’S LEARNING IF THE SCHOOL IS CLOSED?

Children will access their learning through the internet and be able to communicate with their teachers about their learning. Your continued support will be crucial during this time.

HOW WILL MY CHILD ACCESS THEIR LEARNING AT HOME?

Children will need to log into the two following sites daily - these can be accessed on any device including a mobile phone, tablet or laptop/PC:

  • SEESAW - Children have been provided with their log in information and have accessed SEESAW previously and are familiar with how to use it.
  • Sum Dog - Sum Dog passwords have also been provided for each child and, although some children have not accessed this site in school, this is a very easy site to navigate. A parent’s letter providing guidance is included on the back of this letter. If possible, we will try and give children access to this site in school before a school closure.

WHAT WILL A HOME SCHOOL LEARNING DAY/WEEK LOOK LIKE FOR MY CHILD?

Daily (Mon-Fri):

9am – Teachers will upload a short Maths, Reading and SPaG activity on SEESAW.

3pm – Work should be uploaded for teachers to start marking at this time.

Teachers will also provide the children with daily announcements at different parts of the day.

Weekly (every Monday):

9 am – Teachers will upload a short writing and foundation subject task, as well as set Sum Dog competitions to be completed throughout the week and any other challenge that is appropriate to your child’s learning.

Weekly tasks, challenges and competitions can be completed and submitted at any point during the week, but must be submitted by 3pm Friday to be marked.

Thank you for your support,

Mr Turner
